It looks like the new-generation Honda Amaze is all set to become a much bigger sales success than its earlier iteration. In the month of May, Honda Cars India sold as many as 9,789 units of the Amaze. This is the highest monthly sales figure for any Honda car in India yet. As per the company, it has received more than 15,000 bookings for the new Honda Amaze. It has also increased the production capacity to meet the high demand. An interesting bit here is that more than 25% of the bookings are for the automatic variant. This is a reflection of the fast increasing preference of buyers for automatic transmission-equipped cars.
The Honda Amaze is available with two engines and two transmission options. Basically, both petrol and diesel engines can be paired with manual or CVT automatic transmissions. This also makes the Honda Amaze the first-ever CVT-equipped diesel sedan in the mainstream market. As per the company, there’s a 64-36 split in the sales of petrol and diesel variants. The manual-automatic split is 74-26.
Speaking on this, Rajesh Goel, senior vice president, and director, Honda Cars India said that the share of automatic variants in Amaze bookings has seen a huge growth since the advent of the new model. 24% of the total bookings of the petrol variant are for the CVT models. Even the diesel CVT variants have got a good response as one in three bookings of Amaze diesel is for the CVT model. The diesel-CVT variants make for as much as 11% of the total bookings of the new-gen car. The petrol-manual variant in the mid-spec S trim is in the highest demand. Many customers are even opting for V and VX trims.
The new Honda Amaze is on sale in a price range of Rs 5.6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh. Like we said, it’s available with two engine and two transmission options. The petrol engine displaces 1.2-liters and outputs a maximum power of 90 PS and a peak torque of 100 PS. It’s available with a 5-speed manual transmission and a CVT. On the other hand, the diesel engine displaces 1.5-liters and outputs 100 PS and 200 Nm when paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. With the CVT, it offers 80 PS and 160 Nm.
