Playing in subcontinent is not Australia’s strength

Australian spin bowler Nathan Lyon has finally admitted that playing in subcontinent conditions is not really their strength.

This comment has come ahead of their tour match against Pakistan A on September 29, which will serve as a forerunner to Australia’s two-match Test series against Pakistan in Dubai.

“We know as the Australian cricket team, it hasn’t really been our strength, the subcontinent. I know personally, I am looking to really turn that success around for the Australian cricket side,” Lyon said.

Currently, Lyon is undoubtedly Australia’s number one spinner and among the best exponents of the craft in the world. He is pretty confident that he will be one of the key players for his side in the upcoming series.

“I am a better cricketer and better person, to be honest. The amount of cricket that you play you keep learning and learning. If you are not learning that’s when you start to get in a bit of trouble. I feel I am in such a better place.”

Australia are slated to play their first Test against Pakistan from October 7 in Dubai, followed by the second match at Abu Dhabi from October 16.
