Shah Rukh Khan‘s cousin in Pakistan, Noor Jehan, will be contesting from the Peshawar constituency in the General Elections. Geo News has quoted her saying, “I hope people support me in the same way they support Shah Rukh Khan.” She will be contesting on a general seat as an Independent candidate. She has been into politics for a while now. She is Shah Rukh’s paternal cousin. She told Express Tribune, “I want to work for women’s empowerment… I’d like to focus on the problems in my constituency.” Noor Jehan has visited SRK twice so far and the families have always been connected.
During a press event, Shah Rukh Khan had revealed how he wanted to take his kids to Peshawar. PTI had quoted SRK sayinh, “My family is from Peshawar and few of them still live there. I would love to come to Peshawar and bring my children over because my father took me when I was 15. Then he passed away. I still have some of the greatest memories of the time I spent with my father in Peshawar, Karachi and Lahore. I just wish that I could take my children there someday. The one thing that I learnt from there is that people there are very warm. They know how to greet their guest. I have learnt the art of loving and welcoming people from them.” (Also read: A Salman Khan fan tried to burn Shah Rukh Khan but his reply has won over Twitter!)
We wonder what Shah Rukh Khan has to say about this.
