Indian fast bowler Shardul Thakur will replace Jasprit Bumrah in the One-Day International (ODI) squad of Indian team for the three-match ODI series against England, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Friday.
Bumrah, who is currently at no.1 position in ODI rankings, will probably get included in the five-match Test series against England.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Shardul Thakur as Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement in India’s ODI squad,” the BCCI statement read.
“Bumrah underwent a surgery on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in Leeds before returning to India. The surgery was successful and he will commence rehabilitation under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team.”
The 24-year-old Bumrah bore an injury to his left thumb during India’s first T20I against Ireland in Dublin and hence ruled out of the ongoing T20I series against England, where Deepak Chahar was named as the replacement for him in the T20I squad.
