Sushil Kumar gets his name back in TOPS list after 2 years-English

Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar, who is a two-time Olympic medalist, has been included in the elusive list of Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) for the first time in two years whereas 11 sportspersons across archery, wrestling and athletics were dropped from the government-backed program after not being picked for the Asian Games.

The 35-year-old wrestler made a strong comeback at 2018 Commonwealth Games by winning the gold medal and is currently hoping for the same show at upcoming Asian Games.

Other than Sushil, two other wrestlers also got named under the scheme .One is woman wrestler Pooja Dhanda, who had won the silver medal in the 57 kg category at the 2018 CWG, while Sumit Malik, who competes in the men’s 125 kg division has received an extension under TOPS.

A statement from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) read, “She is considered a strong medal prospect for the Asian Games.”
